Jan Berriman has twenty years experience in executive positions within Not-for-Profit companies in the rural and inner urban context within Australia and has demonstrated experience in securing partnerships across community, corporate and government sectors. Jan has delivered housing outcomes for the most disadvantaged people through community development and partnership principles.

 

As the inaugural CEO of Melbourne Affordable Housing Jan established and developed the organisation with a $1m grant to a sustainable organisation with recurrent rental revenue of $2.5m pa with a $71m balance sheet. A project of significance was the first affordable housing project within a mixed-use development in the Docklands. This was developed in a partnership between MAH and LendLease Developments through negotiated funding and land contributions with three State Government departments. Construction is currently underway with fifty seven units ready for tenanting by December 2009.

 

Jan is now the Chief Operating Officer within Housing Choices Australia after the successful merger of Melbourne Affordable Housing into the newly formed HCA group. This was undertaken to develop an organisation of scale and capacity to deliver affordable housing solutions through the Federal government Nation Building and NRAS funding. HCA has an annual turnover of $10m with a balance sheet of $287m.
