Caroline Dickson began working at the City of Casey as a Graduate Strategic Planner in December 2008, after graduating from RMIT with a Bachelor of Design (Landscape Architecture) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Planning). Caroline’s role in Affordable Housing began in establishing the City of Casey Affordable Housing Taskforce, following a Council Notice of Motion to form a Taskforce to address issues around housing affordability in the City of Casey. The Taskforce includes representatives from State Government, Housing Associations, Housing Organisations, Local Support Service Groups, Casey Council, and officers from Casey and adjoining Councils. Caroline has since been involved in running the Taskforce, which meets on a monthly basis, and she is preparing an Affordable Housing Policy for the City of Casey. Caroline also has a role in negotiating partnerships for funding applications and affordable housing projects within Casey. Caroline’s interest in affordable housing is based on the integration of affordable housing into the community, particularly through the innovative design of accommodation that fits within regular housing stock, which is affordable to build and affordable to maintain. |
