Find HousingThis page is included to assist you to find housing within the community housing sector. Please note that the Community Housing Federation of Victoria (CHFV) is a peak body and therefore doesn't own or manage any housing in its own right. If you need emergency housing because you're homeless, at risk of homelessness or escaping domestic violence, go to the Victorian Office of Housing's Getting Help page for a list of homelessness and DV services in your area. These organisations are also the first point of contact if you need: a grant to assist with rent arrears or rent in advance; advice about your housing options; referral for support such as financial counselling; or assistance in completing a public housing application form.
If you're looking for long-term community housing, we recommend that you first go to our What Is Community Housing page so that you can understand the different types of housing and the different housing programs that our members provide.
The Community Housing Federation of Victoria is currently working in partnership with the Department of Human Services to develop a "Common Housing Register" that will enable you to apply for either community housing or public housing, or even both at the same time, through one simple application process. The Common Housing Register should be available by late 2011. Until then, the only way to apply for community housing is to contact the individual community housing organisations directly.
To find a community housing organisation in the area you'd like to live in, click on the link below to take you to a map of either Metropolitan Melbourne or Regional Victoria, then click on the specific area within that map that you're interested in. This will take you to a list of community housing organisations that manage properties in that area. You can contact a housing organisation on the phone number provided, or even better, click on the housing organisation's webpage link to go directly to their website for detailed information about the kind of housing they provide and how to apply for it.
Note that not all registered housing organisations are listed on the maps below. For a complete list of all 40 registered community housing organisations, go to the Housing Registrar website and select registered housing associations or registered housing providers.
