CHFV Transitional Housing Management Sector Group (THMSG)The Transitional Housing Management Program provides short to medium term accommodation for people who are homeless and in need of support to establish long term housing. The THM program is funded by the Office of Housing. CHFV’s Transitional Housing Management Sector Group brings together managers and staff of these organisations and provides an important forum for information sharing, discussion and negotiation. The THM Sector Group:
MembershipThe THM Sector Group is open to all organisations funded under the Transitional Housing Management program. However, only Full Members of CHFV are entitled to vote, and each Full Member organisation is entitled to one vote only. An elected convenor chairs the meetings and ensures that all issues raised are followed up.
Current ActivitiesHead LeasesTHMs have been experiencing long delays in replacement of properties formerly head-leased by the Office of Housing from private owners. The loss of head-leased properties across the sector is estimated to be over 125 properties, severely impacting on the ability of many THMs to maintain a full transitional housing response. Through CHFV, the THM Sector Group continues to raise this as a key issue to be addressed by the Office of Housing and the Minister.
Victorian Charter of Human RightsThis legislation came into full effect on 1 January 2008, and has important implications for community housing organisations and in particular THMs. The THM Sector Group is using the Charter's introduction as a positive opportunity to develop best practice standards across the sector, reflecting our common commitment to promoting human rights and empowering our tenants.
PAMSPAMS is the IT software used by THMs to manage their day to day business. The PAMS Users Group meets regularly with the software provider and Office of Housing reps to identify and respond to any required alterations.
