CHFV Transitional Housing Managers Sub-Committee (THMSC)

The Transitional Housing Management Program provides short to medium term accommodation for people who are homeless and in need of support to establish long term housing. The THM program is funded by the Office of Housing.

CHFV’s Transitional Housing Sub Committee brings together managers and staff of these organisations and provides an important forum for information sharing, discussion and negotiation.

The THM Sub Committee:

  • Creates a forum for information sharing and discussion of issues of interest to transitional housing managers.
  • Represents the collective views of THMs.
  • Provides other CHFV members and the CHFV Management Committee with information and insights regarding theTHM program.
  • Contributes to CHFV policy development and advocacy functions in relation to transitional housing provision.
  • Acts as a consultative mechanism for CHFV on transitional housing issues.
  • Monitors current government policy direction on the provision of Transitional Housing.
  • Negotiates with the Office of Housing on operational and policy issues.
  • Provides data to CHFV about transitional housing providers.

Membership

The THM sub-Committee is open to members of the Federation. However, only Full Members are entitled to vote and each Full Member organisation is entitled to one vote. An elected convenor chairs the meetings and ensures that all issues raised are followed up.

Current Activities

Maintenance Issues

Recent changes to a new maintenance system have led to some confusion about roles and accountability for maintenance on THM properties. The sub-committee regularly feeds back information on issues that arise with maintenance.

PAMS

PAMS is the IT software used by THMs to manage their day to day business. The PAMS users group meets regularly with the software provider and Office of Housing reps to identify and respond to any required alterations.

Meetings

Meetings take place from 10:30am - 12:30pm on Thursdays, every six weeks. Meetings will usually be held in the main board room of the CHFV offices (Level 5, 128 Exhibition Street, Melbourne).
