Introduction to Community Housing
A must for all new workers!
This one and a half day course provides an overview
for new workers on the scope, role and operation of the community
housing sector.
Day 1 is aimed at ALL new workers in the sector. It looks at the
history of community housing, gives a brief introduction to tenancy law and introduces health and safety at work.
You'll also be introduced to the new Housing Provider Framework and
Registration process, some of the jargon in the sector as well as
meeting other workers in the field.
Date
for day 1(full day)
Day 2 (half day) is aimed at new tenancy workers ONLY. It provides
participants with a working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act
1997 and amendments.
Date for day 2 (half day only)
Cost: free to member organisations.

Conflict Resolution Training
We are often involved in resolving customer and staff issues particularly around complaints and misunderstandings as apart of our workplace. These behaviours are often complicated and this is commonly exacerbated by heightened emotions and difficult behaviours. They can be very tricky situations to resolve satisfactorily. And not everyone knows how to manage them effectively. This half day session explores:
- Manage anger & conflict within yourself & others.
- Keep interactions constructive & avoiding defensive reactions.
- Communicating to maximise your persuasiveness.
Date: Tuesday 25 November 2008
Time: 1.00 pm-4:30pm ( afternoon tea will be provided)

CODA Training
CHFV is running CODA Training focusing on property maintenance.
A rough course outline :
- How to set up Maintenance Reference tables
- How to set up Properties and Inventory Items (including default fields)
- How to set up and edit Maintenance Templates
- How to raise a maintenance task
- How to raise a forcast maintenance task
- How to finalise a maintenance task
- Maintenance Reporting & Exporting
- Working with Maintenance Tasks
Recommended for CODA beginner to intermediate users.

Coping with Change Training
The workplace is continually becoming a more dynamic environment, making ever increasing new demands on the ‘adaptability’ of individual employees.
The psychology of change and the person’s reaction to change, continue to be under-estimated. Contrary to belief, the majority of individuals do not spontaneously self-manage change and therefore, will require assistance.
CHFV is running a half day training on ‘Coping with Change’. This training aims to address key issues as follows:
- Definition of change
- Major Life Changes
- Four Stages of change
- Definition & signs of stress
- Strategies to manage change
- How to tell when you are coping with change

Training Needs Analysis
In February 2006 the Office of Housing undertook a training needs analysis for the Community Housing, Homelessness and Domestic Violence Sector. The analysis will be used to further develop Office of Housing training opportunities for the sector and to inform the up-coming tender of the DHS Training Calendar.

DHS Training Reimbursement Policy and Forms
In some circumstances there are reimbursements available for agency staff attending DHS training courses. Regional agencies that are more than 100 km from the training venue and those that provide crisis services may be eligible for reimbursements for time, meals, accommodation or travel.
