PRESENTATION AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Communicating and presenting effectively is one of the skills that staff and management struggle with more than any other.  Surveys consistently identify public speaking as the greatest common fear.  This impedes the ability of an organisation to reach high levels of performance.  Poor communication can damage morale, waste time and produce ineffective results.  This course help people to realise that communication does not end having said something, rather it ends when the recipient understands the message and intent.  Participants learn to appreciate the ‘audience’ and develop the  flexibility in style and manner to present the message in their ‘language.

Time:          9.30am – 12:30pm (morning tea provided)

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT FOR NON FINANCE PEOPLE

A must for board or COM members and managers

The content of the workshop explains accounting concepts in plain English and demonstrates financial management and reporting in practical examples which are relevant to CHO managers and administrators. The content is supplemented by printed manuals. As well as clear explanations of the content, the manuals contain exercises that are undertaken during the workshop, a glossary of terms, and a reference list of resources for participants to use following the workshop.

Why is it important to do this training?

Board members have a fiduciary duty which makes each individual member of a board responsible for financial decisions

Previous participants say that this training has empowered them in their roles as decision makers, and has taken the mystery out of financial management.

Please note that this training is NOT for accountants or finance officers.

CODA Advanced Training

‘There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. These are things we do not know we don’t know.’ – Donald Rumsfeld

Well just like Donald, we don’t know what you don’t know about CODA! But we can find out so that we both know.

This training day will be one where you can ask any questions you like about CODA and they will be answered and demonstrated to all. If you like, you can bring along any “real world” problems that we can resolve before your very eyes. (Just bring your “Data” directory along and a USB stick!)

If you can’t think of anything, we’ll teach you anyway. If you have any topics that you would like us to cover, email me and I’ll draw up a list.

Here are some suggested topics:

    •        How to get the most out of CODA
    •        Advanced parameter setups
    •        Word Merge Tips and Tricks
